10 LPA In-Hand Salary in India 2026-27

If your annual CTC is ₹10 lakh, your monthly in-hand salary will usually be considerably lower than simply dividing ₹10,00,000 by 12.

Under a common salary structure where basic salary is 50% of CTC, employer and employee PF are calculated on full basic salary, gratuity is included in CTC, and annual professional tax is assumed at ₹2,400, the estimated 10 LPA in-hand salary comes to around ₹71,130 per month.

The exact amount can still change depending on your company’s salary structure, PF policy, variable pay, professional tax and other deductions.

How Much Is 10 LPA Salary Per Month?

A ₹10 LPA package means the employer’s total annual Cost to Company is ₹10,00,000.

If you simply divide that amount by 12:

₹10,00,000 ÷ 12 = ₹83,333 per month

But ₹83,333 is not your in-hand salary.

CTC can include employer PF, gratuity, insurance, bonus and other benefits that may not be paid to you as regular monthly cash. Your employee PF, professional tax, income tax and other payroll deductions can reduce the amount further.

With the assumptions used in our example, the final estimated monthly take-home is approximately ₹71,130.

That means there is roughly a ₹12,200 monthly difference between the CTC-equivalent monthly figure and the estimated amount available as take-home salary.

10 LPA Salary Breakdown

For this example, we have assumed that basic salary is 50% of the ₹10 lakh fixed CTC, giving an annual basic salary of ₹5,00,000.

If PF is calculated at 12% of the full basic salary, the employee PF contribution becomes approximately ₹60,000 per year. The employer also contributes approximately ₹60,000, and because we are assuming employer PF is included within the CTC, that employer contribution is not part of your monthly cash salary.

We have also assumed a gratuity provision of approximately ₹24,040 per year, which is included within the CTC rather than paid monthly.

This leaves an estimated cash/gross salary of roughly ₹9.16 lakh annually before employee-side deductions.

The important point is that a ₹10 lakh CTC does not automatically mean ₹10 lakh of salary will be transferred to your bank account during the year.

Why Is Income Tax ₹0 on This 10 LPA Example?

Under the new tax regime, the current individual tax slabs begin with nil tax up to ₹4 lakh, followed by 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30% slabs as income increases. The rebate framework provides up to ₹60,000 of rebate for eligible resident individuals with total income up to ₹12 lakh.

In our example, the cash/gross salary after removing employer PF and gratuity is approximately ₹9.16 lakh. A salaried employee under the new regime can also claim the applicable ₹75,000 standard deduction, bringing estimated taxable salary well below ₹12 lakh.

Therefore, under these assumptions and assuming normal salary income eligible for the rebate, the estimated final income-tax liability is ₹0.

This does not mean every person with a ₹10 lakh CTC will necessarily pay zero tax. Other income, special-rate income, bonuses or a different salary structure can change the final tax computation.

PF Deduction on 10 LPA Salary

PF can make a surprisingly large difference to the monthly in-hand salary.

In our example:

Annual Basic Salary = ₹5,00,000

With employee PF calculated at 12%:

Employee PF = ₹60,000 per year

That works out to:

₹5,000 per month

The employer contribution is another approximately ₹60,000 annually when PF is calculated on full basic salary.

However, not every employer structures PF in exactly the same way. Some employees may have PF contributions based on the statutory wage ceiling rather than the entire basic salary.

This is why two employees with the same ₹10 LPA CTC can receive different monthly in-hand salaries.

Use the salary calculator and switch the PF-capping option on or off to see how much difference it makes.

10 LPA Salary After Tax and PF

For the example used in this article, the approximate annual calculation is:

ComponentAmount
Annual CTC₹10,00,000
Employer PF inside CTC₹60,000
Gratuity inside CTC≈ ₹24,040
Cash/Gross Salary≈ ₹9,15,960
Income Tax₹0
Employee PF₹60,000
Professional Tax*₹2,400
Estimated Annual In-Hand≈ ₹8,53,560
Estimated Monthly In-Hand≈ ₹71,130

*Professional tax varies by state and may be zero in some locations.

So if someone asks:

“What is 10 LPA salary per month after tax and PF?”

a reasonable answer under these assumptions is approximately ₹71,000 per month.

But the safer way to estimate your own salary is to enter the actual values from your offer letter into the salary calculator.

Why Your 10 LPA In-Hand Salary May Be Higher or Lower

The biggest reason salary websites often show different answers for the same CTC is that they use different assumptions.

Suppose your employer caps PF rather than calculating it on the entire ₹5 lakh basic salary. Your PF deduction could be considerably lower and your monthly take-home correspondingly higher.

Likewise, if ₹1 lakh of your ₹10 lakh CTC is performance-linked variable pay, your regular monthly salary may be lower even though the annual package remains ₹10 lakh.

Professional tax also differs between states. Some employees may have ₹2,400 or ₹2,500 deducted annually, while employees in other states may not have the same deduction.

Insurance premiums, employer NPS, flexible-benefit plans, food allowances and other company benefits can create additional differences.

This is why a single statement such as “10 LPA equals ₹71,130 per month” should always be treated as an estimate rather than a universal payroll figure.

New Tax Regime vs Old Tax Regime for 10 LPA

For many salaried employees around this income level, the new regime can be attractive because of its revised slabs, standard deduction and rebate framework.

However, choosing a tax regime should not be based only on CTC.

Under the old regime, deductions and exemptions such as eligible HRA, Section 80C investments, health-insurance deductions and certain other deductions can materially affect taxable income.

Someone paying substantial rent and claiming several legitimate deductions may therefore get a different result from someone with no deductions.

Rather than saying one regime is always better for every ₹10 LPA employee, compare both using your actual numbers.

The Salary Calculator India calculates an estimated take-home under both regimes so that you can compare them using the same salary structure.

Is ₹10 LPA a Good Salary in India?

There is no universal answer because ₹10 LPA can feel very different depending on your city, housing costs, family size, debt and lifestyle.

A person receiving approximately ₹71,000 per month while living with family in a lower-cost city may have substantial room for saving and investing. The same take-home can feel much tighter for someone paying high rent, education costs and EMIs in an expensive metro.

A better way to evaluate a ₹10 LPA offer is to look at the monthly in-hand salary, fixed versus variable component, PF contribution, insurance benefits, bonus structure and future salary growth, rather than judging the CTC number alone.

Frequently Asked Questions About 10 LPA Salary

What is the monthly in-hand salary for 10 LPA?

Under the assumptions used in this example, a ₹10 lakh annual CTC gives an estimated monthly in-hand salary of approximately ₹71,130. Your actual salary can differ depending on PF, gratuity, professional tax, variable pay and company salary structure.

What is 10 LPA salary per month?

₹10 lakh divided by 12 is approximately ₹83,333 per month in CTC terms. This is not the same as take-home salary because CTC may include employer contributions and benefits, while employee deductions reduce the amount credited to your bank account.

How much income tax is payable on a 10 LPA salary?

In the example used here, estimated income tax under the new regime is ₹0 because the estimated taxable salary after the standard deduction falls within the applicable rebate threshold. Other income or a different compensation structure can change the result.

What is the PF deduction for 10 LPA?

If basic salary is ₹5 lakh annually and employee PF is calculated at 12% of the entire basic salary, employee PF would be approximately ₹60,000 per year or ₹5,000 per month.

Can 10 LPA give ₹75,000 in-hand salary?

Yes, it is possible under a different compensation structure. For example, if PF is capped, employer-side CTC components are lower or professional tax does not apply, the take-home could be higher than the example shown here.

Is 10 LPA CTC equal to ₹10 lakh salary received?

No. CTC represents the employer’s total compensation cost and can include components that are not paid as monthly cash, such as employer PF, gratuity and certain benefits.

Which tax regime is better for 10 LPA salary?

It depends on your actual taxable income and eligible deductions. The new regime may be attractive for employees with limited deductions, while an employee with substantial eligible old-regime deductions may get a different result. Compare both using your own figures.
